About The IAC Foundation

Academic competitions are empowering and transformative for students. But families and schools often lack the means to take part. The IAC Foundation has therefore been founded to provide more chances for more students to compete in International Academic Competitions events. Please explore this website to learn about how the IAC Foundation will be fundraising and benefitting students for the 2025-26 academic year and beyond. Our fundraising goal for the 2025-26 academic year is $50,000 – help us reach our goal and beyond!

The IAC Foundation is overseen by an independent board led by parents of students who have taken part in International Academic Competitions events. The IAC Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 organization, and contributions to the IAC Foundation are tax deductible as permitted by law.

Fundraising Event: IAC Foundation Kickoff Holiday Party - New Jersey

IAC Foundation Kickoff Holiday Party – New Jersey

On Sunday, December 21, for all NYC / Northern New Jersey area IAC families, we’ll be having a Kickoff Holiday Party to benefit the IAC Foundation at the childhood home of IAC Founder & Executive Director David Madden in Ridgewood, NJ. Come and meet some of our Foundation board members as well! Stop by any time from 2pm-8pm for food, fun, and of course some buzzer quizzing! A suggested donation of $35 per person to the IAC Foundation covers, among a chance to play in a family vs. family buzzer quiz tournament!

Pub Quizzes

IAC Foundation Benefit Pub Quizzes

Pub Quizzing is how millions of people each year play in an academic (to varying degrees…) competition. During 2026, we’ll look to organize several benefit Pub Quiz nights around the country. If you know of a restaurant or bar where we might be able to hold a benefit pub quiz evening, please let us know.

IAC Foundation Initiatives

1. Financial Aid for Regional Tournaments

The IAC Foundation can help provide students with financial need the opportunity to compete at IAC Regional Tournaments, including Model United Nations Regional Conferences. If you are interested in applying for financial assistance for a Regional Tournament, please fill out the IAC Foundation Regional Tournament Support Form. In addition to funding provided by the IAC Foundation, funding for participating in academic competitions (including those organized by other schools and organizations) can be obtained through QB4All. If you apply for financial support through the IAC Foundation Regional Tournament Financial Support Form, and funding is unavailable, we will automatically forward your application to QB4All, so you do not have to do so twice.

Priority is given to students receiving free or discounted lunch, although we will consider other students’ requests as well. Requests for financial aid for Regional Tournaments are done independently of students’ prior performances in IAC events (i.e. no priority is given to students who have scored higher on the Online Regional Qualifying Exam, or in any prior competition).

Requests must be made at least one month in advance of the upcoming tournament that a student or team wishes to attend. Funding decisions are made on a monthly basis, and Support Form requests are due on the first day of the month in the month prior to the tournament in question. For example if a student is requesting funding to attend a Regional Tournament in April, then that request must be submitted by March 1. Students will then be apprised of their decision by the 10th day of the month (in this case, March 10).

National Championships

2. Financial Aid for National Championships

For students with demonstrated financial need and a record of excellence at Regional Tournaments, the IAC Foundation is able to help provide financial support to attend the National Championships. There will be one round of financial support available for both IAC National Championships, with applications due on March 15 for Varsity / Junior Varsity Nationals, and April 15 for the Middle and Elementary School National Championships. If you are interested in applying for financial assistance for a Regional Tournament, please fill out the IAC Foundation National Championships Support Form. Both financial need and performance are taken into consideration.

Leagues and Tournaments

3. Leagues & Tournaments for New Schools (Coming 2026-27)

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, the IAC Foundation will be launching one or more leagues (particularly in urban areas) and one or more tournaments (particularly in rural areas for Title 1 public schools), which will be provided free of charge. Some funding may also be provided for school coaches and/or for transportation costs. Further details will be available by September 2026.
